Art happenings in March

The art world starts to get busier as spring approaches. Reviewing the diary for the rest of March highlighted a few key dates:

– Donna Zagotta is calling for nominations for her annual Blogs to Watch list. Blogs and links should be nominated in an email to Donna at donnazagotta@chartermi.net
 by 18th March.

– Entries for the Patchings Art competition are due by 28th March. This competition is open to artists worldwide and entries can be made digitally through their website. The £15 entry fee covers up to three artworks.

– The Bankside Gallery in London hosts the Malta exhibition of the Royal Watercolour Society until 14th March, followed by their Spring exhibition starting on 22nd March.

And most important date of all… Today is Mothers’ Day in the UK

Refined Young Ladies (small watercolour painting of roses)
SOLD – Refined Young Ladies (small watercolour)

My Mothers’ Day was made by the sale of this painting to the first visitor at our exhibition on Saturday morning. Flowers being a traditional gift for mothers on this day, this sale seemed like a gift to me.

Tomorrow is the last day of our exhibition after which I will have time to write a post about it.

  1. Vandy, congratulations on the sale! While the roses are beautiful, I really like the background colors you have here…just totally softens the overall feel of this piece.
