Misty morning lake
February 9, 2013 in Secret Places, Watercolours
Another one re-discovered when working through my photo library. This made me think about the effect of paper again as it was painted on very rough paper and in this case, the paper did a lot of the work for me.
Once the basic colours were laid down, they blended beautifully on the paper, leaving the misty streak of light nicely diffused.
This painting was done as a gift for someone who loves mountains. It’s home is now in Cape Town at the foot of one of the world’s most famous mountains. Feels nicely appropriate.
I’ve made the image available on Red Bubble for cards or prints.

You make it look so easy, beautiful work!
Thank you very much, Cathy. That’s high praise, coming from you.
Dear Vandy – this is lovely and you are so right how appropriate it has a home near the mountains. Love that color purple – so beautiful.
